Re-Elect Mark Sandeen

I am running for re-election to the Lexington Select Board.

I have been a Select Board member since 2019, and I am also a member of the Lexington Affordable Housing Trust and Chair of the Hanscom Area Towns Committee. I am also the founder and former chair of the Sustainable Lexington Committee from 2010–2019, which won the Commonwealth’s Leading by Example award.

I’m looking forward to continuing to deliver affordable solutions for Lexington residents, such as lowering residential taxes by creating $240 million in new commercial tax revenue, reducing energy costs of the high school by $93 million over the next 30 years, and creating 40 much-needed 100% affordable homes.

“Mark stands out for his time-tested and proven experience, creative/outside-the-box thinking, and ability to simultaneously address details, while keeping the long-range big picture in focus.”

Jay Kaufman, Former state Representative, 15th middlesex

I also played a key role in creating Lexington’s Community Choice program, which has saved $31 million for more than 10,000 Lexington customers while delivering 100% renewable electricity. I led the effort to install solar energy systems on our schools and at the Lexington Composting Facility. Those systems are currently saving the Town about $1 million a year.

I helped secure approval of three healthy, net-zero schools, all with lower total life-cycle costs than conventionally designed buildings, reducing property taxes for Lexington residents.

I am strongly committed to fiscal responsibility for taxpayers; excellence in education for our kids; affordability for seniors who want to stay in Lexington; and affordability for the next generation of residents who would like to live and work in Lexington.

I believe win-win-win solutions are possible by focusing on the big picture. I look forward to working together to accomplish these goals, now more than ever.

I have lived in Lexington for over 40 years. My wife and I raised two children who attended Lexington public schools K–12. I am a cofounder and active member of the Lexington Interfaith Garden, now in its 16th year, bringing diverse groups together while delivering over 24,000 pounds of healthy produce to the Lexington Food Pantry. I volunteer as a HeatSmart Advisor, helping Lexington residents transition to heat pumps and solar power.

“Mark is a major contributor locally to Lexington’s civic life. He’s a recognized expert on the costs and benefits of clean energy. He’s always focused on making sure that ideas formulated to help Massachusetts help Lexington.”

Michael barrett, State Senator, 3rd middlesex

Previously, I was a high-tech executive with international experience on senior management teams in the semiconductor, software, aviation, and solar industries. I was also the author of the monthly “All Things Sustainable” from 2012 through 2024.

I would be honored if you would consider supporting me and voting for me on March 2, 2026.
