Letter by Scott Burson – former School Committee member

Please join me in voting for Mark Sandeen for Board of Selectmen on March 4. Mark is a 35 -year resident of Lexington, and I share his vision of how to ensure that Lexington becomes an even better community in which to live and raise children. Mark is committed to sustaining the things that make Lexington unique: he will ensure that our schools receive the support they require to maintain their excellence; he will work diligently with fellow Selectmen to ensure the Town obtains the maximum value for its expenditures and that our taxes are fair. He will also help us face the uncertain future of environmental change and a rapidly evolving energy field. Indeed, he is uniquely qualified to do so.

Mark is far more than a bright, well-meaning guy who cares about Lexington – although he is certainly those things, too. In his leadership of the Sustainable Lexington Committee, he has demonstrated his ability to work with Town Boards and Committees to move the town toward solutions that were not immediately obvious, and that promise to save the town millions of dollars in operating funds in future years. He has proved his ability to find innovative solutions to town issues and provided the leadership and collegiality to build the necessary coalitions to have these solutions approved. These are exactly the skills we need in an effective Selectman.

Lexington has been blessed by the service of many capable men and women who have served as Selectmen. Please join me in voting for Mark Sandeen and extending our good fortune.

Scott F. Burson
